In Episode 9 of The Floxie Hope Podcast Rick Radcliff tells us about his experience with fluoroquinolone toxicity brought on by Avelox/moxifloxacin. There are many interesting things about Rick’s experience. Some highlights are:
1. Rick’s reaction to Avelox/moxifloxacin was delayed by three months after he took the drug.
2. Rick was floxed about ten years ago – he has been in this community, learning from and contributing to it, for a long time.
3. The interactions between fluoroquinolone toxicity and thyroid functioning that Rick goes over are very interesting. Of particular note – saliva tests revealed thyroid dysfunction, the blood tests that Rick went through didn’t.
4. One lesson that Rick learned in going through fluoroquinolone toxicity is that validation from doctors is difficult to come by. Rick advises that floxies not put too much emphasis on gaining validation from doctors. (Listen for more info on this advice.)
Rick’s perspective is interesting and he gives a lot of valuable information. Thank you, Rick, for sharing your story!
